Noribachi Upgrades Lexus of Memphis with LED Lighting

Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) November 18, 2011

Noribachi, innovator of smart energy products and leader in informed grid interaction, completes another successful LED bulb retrofit of the service bays and showcase parking areas at Lexus of Memphis in Tennessee. Noribachi has enhanced over 28 automotive dealerships across the country with 13 full rollouts and 15 trials pending complete installation. Lexus of Memphis is Noribachi’s 7th Lexus retrofit and continues to demonstrate the company’s leadership in technologically and environmentally upgrading the automotive industry.

Noribachi retrofitted metal halide lights in Lexus of Memphis’ show lots with a range of Noribachi bulbs, containing 144 LEDs in the largest bulbs to 24 LEDs in the most economical. The result was not only significantly reduced energy usage but also improved color rendition of their vehicles. The Noribachi LED bulbs used emit a 6500K color temperature, producing a cleaner, whiter light, which emulates daylight far better than any other artificial light source. For comparison, typical metal halide bulbs have a color temp of 4000K.

Leonard Temple, Director of IT Services at Lexus of Memphis, says that Noribachi LEDs are “the closest to daylight you can get,” and that the vehicles under the new bulbs look noticeably better.

In addition to outdoor show lots, Noribachi LED lighting is also garnering success indoors at dealerships, due to its superior color rendering index, brightness and lack of glare. At Memphis, Noribachi retrofitted 84 high bay fixtures in the service bays, where mechanics need the best light possible to work with minute pieces and complex engine parts.

This application demonstrates an additional benefit of LEDs: their ability to instantly illuminate when turned on. Older incandescent and gas-discharge bulbs take some time, often even minutes, to reach their maximum light output, while Noribachi LED bulbs turn on immediately, allowing businesses to operate without any delays.

“We were very happy to work with Lexus of Memphis. Upgrading their lighting has definitely been mutually beneficial. Their dealership looks amazing and has already seen a decrease in energy consumption. On our end we never cease to be amazed at what a difference LED lighting makes in showcasing the cars to their very best,” says Steve Kiziuk, VP of Sales at Noribachi.

Lexus of Memphis has found Noribachi LED bulbs to be extremely effective in not only cutting costs, but in generating sales as well. A&I Continues Season With A Film About Legendary Environmentalist

Legendary environmentalist Aldo Leopold will be the subject of a full-length high definition film—narrated by author Curt Meine—that will continue the 2011-12 season of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Arts & Issues series Feb. 2 and 3, on the mainstage in SIUE’s Katherine Dunham Hall. Meine also will be on hand to answer questions after the showing.

Sponsored by the Madison County Regional Office of Education and the SIUE Wildlife and Conservation Biology Club, the film will be shown twice—once at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, and again at the same on Friday, Feb. 3. Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time highlights the environmentalist’s extraordinary career, tracing how he shaped and influenced the modern environmental movement.

For more than 25 years, SIUE’s Arts & Issues series has brought great performers and distinguished speakers to Southwestern Illinois. The official media sponsors for A&I are the Edwardsville Intelligencer and KWMU-FM, while the series official hotel sponsor is Hampton Inn and Suites. The 2011-12 Arts & Issues season is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.

Arts & Issues Director Grant Andree said the film is a fascinating view of one man’s contribution to a movement that has become a global phenomenon. “The story of Aldo Leopold is the perfect example of how one person can make a difference,” Andree said. “This film is an exciting documentary that I’m sure our audience will find riveting.”

An early leader with the U.S. Forest Service, Leopold pioneered wildlife conservation and wilderness management techniques. Curt Meine is a conservation biologist and writer based in Prairie du Sac, Wis., and is a senior fellow with the Aldo Leopold Foundation, director of conservation biology and history for the Center for Humans and Nature, and a research associate with the International Crane Foundation.

Meine’s doctoral dissertation encompasses a biography of Aldo Leopold, published as “Aldo Leopold: His Life and Work.” Meine has undergraduate degrees from DePaul University in Chicago and a graduate degree in land resources from the Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Leopold, who is considered by many the father of the U.S. wilderness system, was a conservationist, forester, philosopher, educator, writer and outdoor enthusiast. Born in 1887, Leopold studied the natural world at an early age, observing, journaling and sketching his surroundings.

He graduating from the Yale Forest School in 1909 and sought a career with the newly established U.S. Forest Service in Arizona and New Mexico. Later, he became supervisor of the Carson National Forest in New Mexico. In 1922, he was instrumental in developing the proposal to manage the Gila National Forest as a wilderness area, which became the first such official designation in 1924.

Transferred to Madison, Wis., two years later, Leopold continued to study ecology and the philosophy of conservation, and in 1933 published the first textbook in the field of wildlife management. Later, Leopold wrote a book that was geared for general audiences examining humanity’s relationship to the natural world.

A little more than a year after his death in 1948, Leopold’s collection of essays, “A Sand County Almanac,” was published. With more than 2 million copies sold, it is one of the most respected books about the environment ever published, and Leopold has come to be regarded by many as the most influential conservation thinker of the 20th Century.

Every birthday is special but few approach the celebratory significance of 2012 as American music and its fans worldwide observe the centennial births of a unique musical visionary, Woody Guthrie. The music he created came from and spoke to the core cultural sensibilities of our country and by doing so it literally shaped the sound of folk music forever.    

Oklahoma’s “Dust Bowl Troubadour” Guthrie gave folk music a new found passion and purpose. As spokesman for the common man he evocatively chronicled their struggle to rise from poverty and oppression, simultaneously celebrating their hard-won victories and castigating the privileged and powerful who held them down. His anthems of inclusion gave voice to those previously ignored while his example gave rise to a generation of socially conscious singers and songwriters.

The 2012 International Folk Alliance Conference is pleased to host one of the first centennial celebrations of the life of Woody Guthrie on February 22-26, 2012 in Memphis featuring several days and nights of panel discussions and music featuring members of the Guthrie family, representatives from The Grammy Museum, the Woody Guthrie Archives, and musicians that represent the spirit of Woody in song.
